About Ingleton & the Yorkshire Dales
The area is a walkers paradise, starting with the stunning Ingleton waterfalls walk, the 3 peaks challenge of Ingleborough, Penyghent & Whernside for the serious walker or can be climbed individually. Other walks recommended walks include Oxenber & Wharfe woods near Austwick where bluebells & orchids can be found in abundance at springtime.
White Scar & Ingleborough caves are close by & offer guided tours. A leisurely ride on the Settle- Carlisle Railway is a must, the Ribblehead Viaduct is just a 15min drive away & was the inspiration for ITVs period drama ‘Jericho’.
The Lake District, Trough of Bowland, Lancaster, Skipton, Kendal & the seaside at Morecambe are a short drive away. Also worth visiting are nearby villages, including Dent (cobbled streets) Hawes (wensleydale creamery) & Kirkby Lonsdale.
Snaizeholme Red Squirrel Trail (between Ingleton & Hawes)
The Snaizeholme red squirrel viewing area lies in the heart of the Widdale Red Squirrel Reserve. The viewpoint and surrounding woodland offer an excellent chance of getting superb views of red squirrels as they visit a feeder in a woodland clearing.
